Lawrence Rutherford grew up with the luxury of dirt and time in Chicago’s gritty southwest side. He was fortunate to attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and OCAD University. He was awarded the Aureade Falconer-Girard Memorial Bursary. He has attended Creative Works Studio, for people who struggle with mental health where he has participated in major fairs and exhibitions, including Scotia Bank Contact Photography Festival, Riverdale Art Walk, and Toronto Outdoor Art. In 2016 he received a bursary from Creative Works Studio to create a series of paintings, and most recently exhibited in Nuit Rose.
