These five images are part of an ongoing exploration that I have been conducting for the past two years. Collage has always been an important part of my work, and two years ago I decided to shake up these collages of found and original photographic images by drawing over them with colored marks using a iphoto tool. Originally the marks were randomly drawn over the collages employing different colors, widths, opacities and transparencies responding to the shapes beneath them. After dabbling with this procedure for a bit, I decided to do a series of images which were loosely based on A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. In these images I decided that the title of the image which had been been predetermined would be written over the image using the above technique. In this way the image’s title would become an actual part of the image. The only novelty to this technique was that each letter of the title was actually based on a Russian word using the Cyrillic Alphabet. So what I am presenting to you are photo collages with their titles emblazoned over them in different colors, transparencies, techniques, fonts, etc, but in Russian. Not only are you seeing my photographs but also the title of the image as part of the image.
