Jess Broze grew up in Seattle, Washington. She attended the University of Washington graduating with a degree in Cinema Studies and Comparative Literature. Post graduation while working at Scarecrow Video she completed a graphic design program. She then worked under photographer Susan Cole at the Seattle Art Museum, digitally archiving the collection. In 2009 she moved to NYC and at long last found answers to her questions about painting materials and technique with artist Alyssa Monks whose flesh painting class she took on repeat at the New York Academy of Art. She then studied printmaking at the National Academy with master of Viscosity printmaker Taka Maruno. In 2018 she returned to Seattle where she worked and showed at the Tashiro Kaplan studios for one year before moving to Santa Monica where she currently resides.
