Jeff Patterson is a queer visual artist born in Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1997, and was raised in, and now resides and is based out of, Ottawa, Ontario. Jeff specializes in painting and drawing, but also has an interest in printmaking, favoring figurative or representational work. He is currently attending the Ottawa School of Art, enrolled in the Fine Arts Diploma program graduating in 2023, starting in 2020, this marks the beginning of his professional art career. Presently in his work, Jeff focuses on the trials that come out of self-identity through themes of emotion, most recently, peace, fear, and love. Inspired by horror, surrealism, and the, presumably, non-existent, Jeff attempts to create a stillness of mind in which the viewer can reflect on their own identity in an imaginary space he describes as void-like. During his time at the Ottawa School of Art, Jeff was selected for multiple scholarship awards, offered bi-annually through the institution, and has been included in several class shows in the Lee Matasi Gallery within the school.
