When I moved to Connecticut, I founded a non-profit organization, a chapter of Women's Caucus for Art, to help diverse women artists gain more visibility, and in fifteen years we exhibited our works in over forty-five exhibits. I taught art history as an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, and at community colleges in Bridgeport and Norwalk. I worked as art education curator for twenty years at two museums in Bridgeport. At the Discovery Museum, I garnered grants, honors and publicity for urban-suburban elementary school exchanges that provided children with meaningful opportunities to connect and bridge socio-economic divisions. At the Housatonic Museum of Art, I designed programs for city high school students to develop leadership by leading art tours, and when they were successful, some considered careers as teachers.
My book, "365 Daily Affirmations for Creativity," was published on five continents in four languages, and led to engagements to speak about creativity at schools, at retreats in Quebec and Costa Rica, and at Teacher's College in Xian, China.
My primary art form is 2-D visual art - first painting, and lately more photography. I have experimented with combining image and text, image and performance, and designed unique artist's books. I have portrayed my dreams, people and landscapes, and have highlighted social justice issues such as sexual harassment and the dangers of climate change. I currently feel inspired to produce videos and mixed media. As a facilitator of Creativity Matters, a Unitarian Universalist Association program, I enjoy the opportunity of national exposure offered to creators. I am in love with color and I am known for my use of color - whether in my paintings and photographs or the multi-colored walls in my home.
