In 1990, the move was made to Seattle, where the budding glass artist had the privilege of working for and learning from the best in the glass business. Most summers, she spent as an artist and staff member at Pilchuck Glass School, Stanwood, WA. Juggling teaching, assisting, and her own glass became Alison’s life.
She was lucky enough to be accepted into the graduate studies program at The Ohio State University in 2000. She earned her MFA in spring 2003 and worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at OSU through spring 2006. In 2006, Alison became an Associate Professor of Glass at Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD. She worked hard over the next 6 years to join the ranks of tenured professors at Salisbury University. Despite all her efforts, tenure was out of reach.
Once the dust had settled, Alison chose to move to Asheville, NC, where she currently lives happily as a glass artist to this day.
