“I strike at random but have been moving towards a more comprehensive model of creating groupings of yarn bombs, which becomes an installation of sorts. My targets have included popular jog routes, secret pathways, test sites, and hospitals. I would like to create pathways of yarn-bombed trees, covered urns and statuary, and even covered structures for maximum visual impact. I am a prolific knitter."

Sooo-z Mastropietro

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York with a BFA in Fashion Design and Textile Design, Sooo-z Mastropietro parlayed her talents into unfettered territories when she realized she didn't have to settle for one thing. Her early adventures included costume designing for a rock band as well as for local community theater. An artist to the core, Sooo-z lives the very art she explores through painting, mixed media, and textile engineering. Often she experiments in specific genres which offer varying technical practices or satisfy a creative burst. Themes often develop as observations of current events in her life. Her voice as an artist is constantly evolving through the need to experiment but the constant of a calculated yet spirited execution remains.

Her experimental fiber-based work was featured at SCOPE Miami Basel in 2022 and included in the exhibitions "The Continuum of Connection" at CAMP Gallery in Westport, Connecticut, "Cutting Loose: One Medium Maximized" at Westfield University, "Manifestations in Fiber" at the Brookfield Craft Center in Bridgefield, and "Women Pulling at the Threads of Social Discourse" in collaboration with The Contemporary Art Modern Project (The CAMP Gallery) and the Fiber Artists Miami Association (FAMA). She was a finalist in the Heavy Metal Knitting World Championship in Finland in 2021, and is also a classical bass player.
