This is the old Freight House (now gone) and Coal Elevator (now gone) on the Island in Bellows Falls, one afternoon in the late 1950's. As I was working on this, I realized I was -in essence- dedicating the painting to a towering figure in Bellows Falls, gone too soon - Mike Harty. I don't know if he gave two hoots about the freight house, but as I was working on the painting, I kept thinking of Mike, 'the best neighbor ever,' who I miss very much.
