Lumières is a series of large-scale works on paper in which macro photography of botanical subjects is overlaid with gold and charcoal, transforming biological signatures into luminous presence. Gold is the representation of the divine in medieval painting, here attributing divine nature to nature. The viewer is drawn in and the boundary between observer and observed dissolves.
