"Rain on Roark Creek" was created using a modified form of a fold used in the Japanese shibori textile tradition. After folding the piece, I secured thin wooden blocks on either side of the bundle before dyeing it multiple times in natural plant-derived indigo. Names inspired by nature are common in the indigo shibori tradition, so I thought it only fitting that the resulting pattern reminded me of a rainshower in one of my favorite Ozarks spots.
