Kingston Creative has launched the Creative Resilience Fund, an initiative aimed at supporting Jamaican artists and creatives impacted by Hurricane Melissa, particularly in the western parishes. As the year comes to a close, Gallery OCA, a UK-based gallery that supports artists of Caribbean heritage, has joined efforts to support Kingston Creative by helping raise funds and amplify the initiative, encouraging the public to support artists during a critical recovery period.
The Creative Resilience Fund responds to the long-term challenges disasters create for creatives. Beyond immediate damage, hurricanes disrupt exhibitions, performances, tourism, and income streams—often for months. Funds raised through the initiative will provide monthly subsistence grants to artists and creatives who are currently unable to earn, helping to stabilise livelihoods and protect Jamaica’s cultural sector.
As part of its support, Gallery OCA will actively promote Kingston Creative’s fundraising campaign, encourage direct donations, and sell selected works of art with proceeds supporting the Creative Resilience Fund. In addition, Gallery OCA will issue a separate call to artists, inviting creatives to donate artworks to help raise funds in support of their peers.

This is about solidarity; artists and the wider community supporting artists, and standing with them.”
