Although Shackleton's works are renowned for the deliberate absence of human life, she went out on a limb for the self portrait competition at the Artist Project in Toronto. In this painting, Shackleton merges her profile with a Croatian rock-cut, surrounded by buildings from Toronto. She is in her element—completely immersed in one of her urban landscape paintings.
