For many years, I maintained two separate artistic practices. In the studio, I made abstract paintings. Outside, I created large-scale street paintings. I never expected those worlds to meet.
As painted forms began extending beyond the edges of my panels and onto the surrounding walls, I found myself drawing on lessons learned through years of creating art in public space. The viewer’s position suddenly mattered. The space around the artwork became part of the composition.
In these installations, painted forms continue beyond the panel through lines applied directly to walls, corners, windows, and other architectural elements. From certain viewpoints, these forms align. As viewers move through the space, relationships appear, dissolve, and reform.
What began as a practical solution has evolved into an exploration of perspective and connection. Visitors are invited to occupy the same vantage point from which the work was created, briefly sharing a point of view that is both physical and metaphorical.
Ultimately, this work grew from the unexpected convergence of two artistic lives: one spent exploring abstraction in the studio and another creating images in public space. Together they invite viewers to consider not only what they see, but how they see.
Despite its appearance all works except for "Coast" can be purchased as a singular piece. They are available to view on the nights of the June 6th for the opening and June 20th during the artist talk. Appointments can be made with me to view the exhibit outside these days.
