From Ruin to Beauty is a series of large and small format fine art photographs captured in abandoned buildings across Romania—castles, manors, and churches in the slow process of returning to the earth. Moving close without staging or reconstruction, the camera amplifies the form and texture: peeling paint, water stains, and biological growth. What emerges is an accidental beauty that was never designed and cannot be repeated.
The series stems from a broader documentary project, Left to Decay / Lăsate în Paragină, which records these same sites in full. Where Left to Decay preserves the overall place, From Ruin to Beauty isolates the detail. Bound together, the two projects exist in tandem: one documents what was abandoned; the other exposes what abandonment creates.
