Contemplation is a grand landscape of a particular sort, consisting of six stacked, sculptural panels with torn canvas. The austere color palette, limited to mostly white with a small amount of silver, gives the work a marmoreal quality, hinting at the timelessness of Ancient Greek sculpture. The architectural rationality of a grid system contrasts with the many irregular shapes, lines and waves that cut across the panels, creating an intense sense of motion.
Centered around the female body as a literal and symbolic site of contestation, agency, and resistance, combined with remnants of surreal lands and cityscapes, my artworks attempt to disrupt the silence shrouding women living on the peripherals of the patriarchal state. They adumbrate a labyrinthine narrative of abstract, figurative, and mystical configurations, set in a world both familiar and uncanny.
