This work was painted based on a photograph of flowers and fruit placed by a window. Flowers in a pot, separated from nature, are already confined. They must depend on the water and nourishment provided by humans, and they live within a limited and short span of time—without any promise of a future or the next generation. To be placed by a window is, in fact, a cruel reality for a potted plant. It may enjoy sunlight, yet it can only look outward, unable to taste fresh air or touch real soil outside. Why is there such a cruel hope in being made to gaze at another world that can never be reached? Why are we given memories of where we once came from, along with an impossible longing to return? Why do traces of those memories remain carved within us?
