At one time the Chewaukla Bottling Factory boasted a national reach from this backwoods Ozark site known for its cold refreshing waters in an area better known for its namesake Hot Springs, Arkansas. It operated from 1920/30s through the 1960s or 80s, depending on the source, allowing millions of bottles to flow from these springs into homes around the country. In fact, the Sleepy Water spring water fell out of fashion in a time when homes were lauding all new filtered tap water.
