Through the Storm: Calm in Adversity
In creating Through the Storm, I wanted to explore finding calm in chaos. Water is a central element here—not only for its physical properties but also for its symbolic meaning. It can be soft or firm, flowing gently or surging powerfully. This dual nature of water mirrors the human experience—it is in our humility that we find our true strength. The figure stands unwavering, his expression unyielding yet at peace, as he allows the Storm to wash over him.
The reflections and transparency of the water were both a technical challenge and an artistic statement. I wanted to capture the interplay of light and water as they interact with the human form—the way they refract, reflect, and cast shadows. Water can be both nurturing and challenging, just like the experiences we face in life. Through the Storm it represents the beauty of resilience, the ability to stay grounded while navigating difficulty.
When you look at this piece, I hope you feel a sense of strength and determination—the realization that storms are inevitable, but so is our ability to weather them. It is about standing tall in the face of challenges, trusting that we emerge more robust and stronger by moving through the Storm.
