Finding the Way - Helen Brancatisano

These new landscapes on paper continue to express my abiding interest in how we move through our lives connected to time and place while confronting the unpredictability of change.

“Call from the Sky”, my only work on board in this exhibition, signals a shift in my subject matter and an adjustment in my technique, (stemming from years of experimenting with monotypes).

This work departs from my images of our solitary pilgrimage through the landscape to the recognition that we are in the company of birds. We view birds as transcending our own limitations. While we stand at the centre of things, earth bound, birds traverse water and land, viewing the landscape from a different perspective.

I am interested in how they enter our consciousness to change our own perspective.
