Engraved rust aquatint: a rusted steel plate provides a surface to hold ink. This surface can be modified by being polished or engraved before printing.

Arcadia lies at the urban-rural interface of the most northern edge of Sydney; Land cleared for farming over 200 years ago, sits alongside native bush containing enormous original trees. At this line there are stark contrasts that demand to be recorded in print.

Natalie Bell has lived her whole life in this landscape and feels a deep connection to it. This is reflected in her work.

“The high ridge where I spent my childhood, overlooks the Hawkesbury River. I would often watch the gathering storms move up the valley in the late afternoon. A break in the clouds and the setting sun would burst through in a blaze of light.”
