In his early twenties, my father received a misdiagnosis for his mental health, but it wasn't until my sister was in her mid-teens and diagnosed with OCD that he recognised his own condition. Our journey towards comprehending mental health and its complexities has come along way. I've observed, more than personally experienced, the shadowy realms the mind can traverse. Through identifying, navigating, and openly conversing about the struggles with both professionals and our loved ones, we can manage to cast a light on our mental well-being. The painting predominantly portrays darkness, reflecting the depths the mind can sometimes plunge into. Yet, amidst this, there emerges a beacon of illumination in the form of a blue circle and square. Symbolically, the circle represents life and the mind, while the square embodies the framework within which we coexist and understand ourselves in relation to others, our community, and the vast cosmos. The painting I dedicate in memory to both my Father and sister.
