My imagined landscapes reflect the forms of nature above and below the surface, weaving together observation, memory and sensory experiences of place. Working on timber boards, honors the land and allows me to carve textural mark making that capture the rhythms of the Australian bush seen with the eyes and felt with the heart. 'Ghost Gums' Eucalyptus trees can reach 18m in height and have a strikingly smooth white bark, they often stand alone. Ghost Gums always seem to glow to me, like they have an inner source of light. In this work I wanted to capture my idea of this and also the network below that aids its' growth.
