This Japanese Buddhist altar cloth from the 19th Century, known as an uchishiki, is made of finely woven silk brocade. It was originally purchased by Col. and Mrs. Raymond H. Gehrig, in Kyoto, Japan and given to the Bates' in December, 1951.
On loan from the estate of Jack and Virginia Bates, former Residents of Westminster Canterbury Richmond.
