My work explores the concept of blooming in a space where the odds are against you. Inspired by Gwendolyn Brooks's poem Second Sermon on the Warpland, I use paper to demonstrate the fragility of life and the silent strength that African Americans have to possess in an oppressive society. Each paper cut is a call to action and interpretation to live and have your blooming in the noise of the whirlwind.
