On September 29, a dear friend and I set out for an adventure, leaving northeast Texas for Abiquiu, New Mexico. We were in Abiquiu for only three days, three full and magical days. We walked in the footsteps of Georgia O'Keeffe, reveling in the beauty and simplicity of her world. We met other artists on the trails, at meals, and traveling about. We took the high road to Taos and happened upon the annual feast of St. Geronimo and the sacred performance of the koshares. Everywhere we turned, we met friendly, generous, sharing people.
From the Chama to the vistas, from the startling blue sky to the vari-colored cliffs, to the chamisa, the cottonwood, and the roadside asters, I offer you the colors of Abquiui.
May some of the magic we felt be transmitted to your heart.
