One of Maitin’s most frequent collaborators in spreading joy was Dr. Luther W. Brady, Chief of Radiation Oncology at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia for over fifty years. Dr. Brady dedicated much of his spare time to working with artistic nonprofits, such as the Friends of the Philadelphia Art Museum and Fleisher Art Memorial.
Throughout their long friendship, Brady commissioned Maitin to create numerous works to be displayed at Hahnemann, including a 1967 mural and a series of over 50 ceiling tiles. Patients with cancer would see these joyful ceiling tiles while lying prone to receive radiation therapy.
