This work attributed to Barent Cornelis Koekkoek shows multiple figures in what would have been considered the new landscape style of the age.
Koekkoek was born in 1803 studied under van Os. The artist had several commissions for the king of Holland during his career. He received the Gold Medal of Paris in 1840,1845, and 1855. Koekkoek was featured in many galleries including the Antwerp galleries, the Rotterdam Museum, Berlin Galleries and as far South as Kensington and Fodor Museum in Amsterdam where it is believed this work was exhibited.
The artist passed in 1862.
