Zhang Chunyang taught at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts from 2004 to 2009 and was appointed as an art advisor at the China Calligraphy and Painting Institute under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2015. Her work is deeply influenced by Expressionism, focusing on the “personal world” as its core. She integrates poetic thinking to develop what she calls “Poetic Expressionism,” emphasizing the fusion of intuition and a sense of the mystical. In 2016, she launched *The Traveling Studio*, followed by *The Action Studio* in 2019, expanding her practice into public art.

Her notable solo exhibitions include *Visiting Dreams or Slightly More Than Reality* (2024, SANSANG Contemporary Art Museum, Hangzhou), *A Whole New World* (2019, Kunming Contemporary Art Museum), and *Horse Language* (2014, Today Art Museum, Beijing). She has also participated in major group exhibitions such as *Enduring Affection—20th Century Asian Women Artists* (2024, He Xiangning Art Museum, Shenzhen) and *On the Path Through the Woods* (2023, OCAT Contemporary Art Center, Shenzhen). Through her highly intuitive and emotionally charged approach, Zhang Chunyang constructs a unique spiritual world that shifts between reality and illusion.
