Statement
Victoria's art practice as an abstract Painter and Printmaker, sees her drawing, mark making and creating with a mix of mediums. She finds these two disciplines complement and inform each other and allow for a wider exploration of subject matter.
Victoria focuses on new ways of seeing the world around her and is often drawn to aerial views. “Whenever possible I’ll grab the window seat in an aeroplane so I can snap away at the birds-eye views passing me by.”
By using a sketchbook and a camera she enjoys isolating shape, space, colour, pattern, enticing texture and exploring scale and composition. This process of observation will often translate into a multilayered artwork.
"We all play our part alongside nature in creating these ever intriguing layers, textures, lines and marks that imprint our lands."
As an abstract artist I don’t wish to convey a recognisable landscape scene, I’m intrigued with dismantling the landscape into single elements I enjoy, whilst trying to convey a sense of place, I try to immerse myself in that moment to document what I see and hear.
