Chased and stamped, fine silver bezel with a wire patterned fused shank of sterling silver.
On an uncharacteristicly clear and dark night, I saw from my back yard a star I'd not previously noticed directly over my studio. I stared in disbelief because I was seeing what I should not have been able to see without a telescope: a glowing, elongated ellipse, a binary star system. After some investigation, I discovered it was Capella, the brightest star in the constellation of Auriga. It was more than a binary star. Capella is actually a quadruple star system made up of two binary pairs and was the brightest star in our sky 210,000 years ago. As I brought this ring with its glowing, elongated ellipse closer to completion, I thought of the Capella's light reaching my studio nearly 43 light years away. While I would never be so arrogant to believe the stars could possibly have any concerns about the day to day affairs of humans, their wonder and beauty inspire my own creativity.
