Fruiting Body is a hand-built, intimate porcelain sculpture. It is part human and part fungus, or perhaps coral. It invites the viewer to revel in its intricate, delectable texture, and to wonder about the nature of its current predicament. Is the being within attempting to hide and camouflage? Or has this being been rendered immobile so long, that its body is a host that has borne fruit? Is it now an entirely new organism? Locking gazes with its hollow, somewhat haunted eyes, the viewer can ponder the intricacy and evolution of an inner self that, like many of ours, feels trapped and stranded, yet holds unthought-of possibilities.
