Veil Between Worlds explores the space between visibility and concealment. Two closed eyes hover above, softened and incomplete, suggesting inward retreat. Below them, a richly textured eye emerges through layered fabric, sequins, and paint, carrying both fragility and strength. The orange field evokes emotional intensity, while the cooler passages introduce shadow, memory, and depth.
The surface shifts between matte and reflective textures, reinforcing the idea that identity is not singular. Some parts remain quiet and internal. Others are shaped, adorned, and exposed.
This painting invites the viewer to consider what is seen, what is hidden, and what quietly watches beneath the surface.
This work grew from the idea that perception is layered. What we see is rarely the whole truth. There is the outer gaze, the inner gaze, and the gaze that observes both. The closed upper eyes suggest withdrawal or inward reflection, while the embellished lower eye suggests heightened awareness shaped by experience. The interplay of warm orange and cooler blue green tones reflects the tension between emotion and discernment, heat and restraint, impulse and contemplation.
