Bevy of Butterflies by Vasu Tolia Image: After seeing an IMAX movie about the migration of the North American Monarchs almost a decade back, I’ve been fascinated with them and have made several paintings recently. The threat of their possible extinction affected me deeply. This painting depicts abstracted butterflies in rich red/pink hues, in many sizes and shapes. I made them intact, or show only half in outline or in very detailed wings. They are shown hovering as if on their flyway. This is all in my fantasy and rendered in vibrant colors without flowers to tell the story of their fantastic journey for survival.
