Artist: William Wylie (American, b. 1937)
William Wylie (born 1937) is an American artist who received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1989. He is a professor at the University of Virginia, where he teaches photography and conducts research on how spaces are transformed by people and other forces. Wylie is known both nationally and internationally for his photographs and films, and he has received multiple fellowships, including a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005. His work is part of permanent collections at the National Gallery of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others. Wylie has also published four books of his photographs and has worked as a professor of art at various universities.
