Artist: William Ross Abrams (American, 1920-2007)
American printmaker and artist. Born in Richmond, VA in 1920. He attended the Cape School of Art in Providence, RI in 1938, and two years later enrolled in the Richmond Professional Institute and received his BFA. From 1942-45 he served in the U.S. Army and received the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, etc. He studied at the Arts Student League with Sternberg, Kantor, Vytlacil and Barnet up to 1950, was awarded the Guggeheim Fellowship for creative work from 1951-2. He attended the Hans Hoffman School and studied lithographic printing with Robert Blackburn at the Creative Graphic Workshop.
