  • Artist: Trevor Paglen (American, b. 1974)

American photographer and sculptor. Trained as geographer and photographer, strives to make the invisible visible by documenting the 21st century American survelliance state. He does this by photographing distant military sites, stealth drones, and information-gathering satellites. He has launched a temporary artwork into orbit around planet Earth to spark global dialogue about surveillance and space ownership. His work has been exhibited across the world, including at the Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Tate Modern. Paglen holds a BA from U.C. Berkley, MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Ph.D in Geography from U.C. Berkley.
