Artist: Susan Brenner (American, b. 1951)
American contemporary painter. Brenner earned her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1989 an a MFA from the University of Southern California in 1991. Although she is mainly a painter, she has also worked in photography, digital imaging, drawing, and installations. Her work has been exhibited in many institutions around the US including The Mint Museum in Charlotte, the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. She has received many grants and awards in her career, including the Pollock-Krasner Artist’s Grant, a Visual Artist Fellowship from the North Carolina Arts Council, and a Mecklenburg Regional Artist Project Grant. She is currently an Associate Professor and Area coordinator of painting in the Department of Art and Art History at UNC Charlotte.
