French engraver and printmaker. Doisneu learned engraving and lithogrpahy for the purposes of label and packaging design at age 15 at the Estienne School in Paris. He worked in advertising for a few years before becoming an independent photographer whose imagery was concerned with simple pleasures, such as everyday moments in the Parisian cityscape where, and instances where compositions are lit by the reflections of sunbeams on the citiy's asphalt. Doisneu's practice was shifted during the outbreak of World War II, and his focus shifted to portaiture.
