Artist: Robert Dawson (American, b. 1950)
American photographer. Robert Dawson graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1972 and continued his studies at San Francisco State University to receive his MA. Dawson’s photographs seek to uncover our complex relationship with the environment and its shared nature, and he utilizes photography’s ability to raise public awareness. Dawson is included in the collections of many major institutions and was a Fulbright Global Scholar, along with grants from Guggenheim Fellowship, Creative Work Fund, and National Endowment For the Arts. His photographs are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art; National Museum of American Art; Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; J. Paul Getty Museum; Center For Creative Photography, University of Arizona, Tucson; Library of Congress; and, the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris.
