American painter and illustrator. Pettibon is known for his ink drawings that combine image and text, drawing inspiration from cartoons and pop culture. He has designed album art for several punk rock bands including Black Flag, the Foo Fighters, and Sonic Youth. His work is in the collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Tate Gallery in London, among others.
