Artist: Patrick Caulfield (British, 1936-2005)
English painter and printmaker best known for work with the Pop Art movement. Caulfield's style is influenced by Photorealism and is characterized by color planes and cartoonish outlines. He attended the Chelsea school of Art and the Royal College of Art. Caulfield's work was included in the “New Generation” exhibit at the Whitechapel Gallery in London and was also selected to represent Britain at the Paris Biennale. He has won the Prix des Jeunes Artistes award, the Jerwood Painting Prize and his solo exhibition “The Artist’s Eye” was also nominated for the Turner Prize in 1987. Caulfield also held a major retrospective at the Hayward Gallery in London in 1999.
