  • Artist: Naoya Hatakeyama (Japanese, b. 1958)

Japanese photographer. Born 1958, Hatakeyama graduated from the University of Tsukuba, School of Fine Arts in 1981 and is a working artist based in Tokyo. Hatakeyama’s body of work is often concerned with nature and humans’ relationship with and to the environmental landscape. The artist began work primarily in black and white prints, but has since developed his images to include color. Hatakeyama’s work became heavily influenced by the 2011 tsunami and earthquake that devastated Japan.
