Artist: Lynn Chadwick (British, 1914-2003)
British sculptor. Chadwick studied architecture under Roger Thomas in London. This interest in building a form eventually led him to become more interested in sculpture. He is known for his unique method of improvising a sculpture without any sketches or preliminary plans.Chadwick has represented Britain at the Venice Biennale and is the youngest recipient of the Iernational Sculpture Prize. His first show was in 1962 of his sculpture, Two Winged Figures. Chadwick later became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire and a Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres.
