Luis Sahagún (Mexican-American, b. 1982) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice weaves Mexican craft and Curanderismo to reimagine ancestral rituals as transformative acts of healing. As described in his artist statement, “grounded in the spiritual practices of Curanderismo, including limpias (spiritual cleansings) and soul retrieval, [his] work serves as both offering and ritual.” Through this physical, live action, he reclaims and recontextualizes Indigenous traditions, emphasizing art’s capacity to restore spiritual, cultural, and historical connection.
