  • Artist: Lovis Corinth (German, 1858-1925)

German painter. Corinth studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich and later moved to Paris, where he studied under William Adolphe Bourgereau. Corinth’s work can be found at collections in Art Institute of Chicago, the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, as well as the Tate Gallery in London. Corinth is known for his figurative and landscape paintings. His works adapt French Impressionist techniques while Corinth was a leading figure of the Berlin Succession, which emphasized German style of Impressionism.
