Artist: Julian Trevelyan (British, 1910-1988)
English artist and poet. Trevelyan moved to Paris to learn etching and to pursue a career as an artist alongside Max Ernst, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso. He served as a camofleur for the British in World War II. He gained much of his inspiration from his home and studio on the Thames. He is known for his paintings and for his wife Mary Fedden, an accomplished artist herself. In 1935, he was a part of the International Surrealist Exhibition. He was the head of the etching department at Royal College of Art; David Hockney and Norman Ackroyd were some of his students.
