  • Artist: John Muench (American, 1914-1993)

American painter and printmaker. Muench was mainly self-taught, with Julian Levi as his mentor. He was the director of the School of Fine and Applied Arts in Portland, Maine. He was awarded two Tiffany Foundation Fellowships and a Tamarind Lithography Workshop. He worked in several different media (acrylic, mixed media, watercolor, aquatint, and wash) and is best known for his landscape paintings and lithographs.
