French neoclassical painter best known for scenes of the French Revolution and First French Empire. Studied under Francois-André Vincent at the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture. Thevenin also studied in Italy and was the director of the French Academy in Rome. He was later elected into the Academie des Beaux-Arts in 1825.
