American painter. Winograd grew up on an Iowa farm before moving to NYC (1949). Her paintings are considered a combination of expressionism and realism depicting still lives, Manhattan street scenes, and sometimes portraits, though landscapes were her primary focus. She is known for her later works that investigated the relationship among land, sea, and sky, and her paintings take on an ethereal atmosphere.
