  • Artist: Hunt Slonem (American, b. 1951)

American painter best known for paintings of tropical birds, butterflies and rabbits. Studied at Tulane University and later the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture where he met fellow artists Alex Katz and Alice Neel. Considered a key figure of the Neo-Expressionist movement alongside Julian Schnabel and Georg Baselitz. Works reside in the collections of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and many others.
